Over the years the organization has undergone serveral changes which are summarized below :

1967 |
Cey-Nor Development Foundation was created and began Operations, utilizing the
aid received from NORGES GOTEMPLAR UNGDOMS FORBUND (NGU), a Norwegian
NGO
|
1971 |
The
company was incorporated under the Companies Ordinance No : 51 of 1938
as a Public Company Limited by guarantee and was know as Cey-Nor
Development Foundation Limited

1985 |
Acquired
by the Government of Sri Lanka under the Business Acquisition Act No :
38 and the Comapny became the G.O.B.U. of Cey-Nor Development Foundation
Limited
|
1990 |
With
the enforcement of the Conversion of Public Corporations or G.O.B.U.
into the Public Companies Act No : 23 of 1987, the G.O.B.U. of Cey-Nor
Development Foundation ceased to exist and Cey-Nor Foundation Limited
was incorporated under the Companies Act No : 17 of 1982, to succeed the
former G.O.B.U. of Cey-Nor Development Foundation Limited

The entire share capital of this new Company (Rs. 40,000,000/-) has been allotted to the Secretary to the Treasury.
Initially the activities of
the Company were limited to the manufacture and repair of boats at
the Karainagar Boat Yard. Over the years the Company expanded its
activities. The Head Office, situated in Colombo is responsible for
administration and co-ordination of the activities at other locations.
